From Quinta Vale d’Agodinho, Trovisca, Alegria, Mós: Touriga Nacional (30%), Touriga Franca (25%), Tinta Roriz (15%) Tinto Cão (5%), Tinta Barroca (5%), others (20%). ‘2005 represented a huge test for the vines’ heath due to a very dry winter followed by a hot summer. The berries were small and very concentrated. Totally destemmed grapes followed by a slow fermentation with temperature control up to 28 °C. Not filtered. Bottled in October 2007.’ TA 4.6 g/l, pH 3.71, RS 100 g/l. Mid crimson, much lighter in colour than the 2013 but still lots of garnet red. Sweeter smelling and more red-fruited, with the minty basil notes that Oscar Quevedo says comes from the Agodinho vineyard. Black cherry, a little smoky, still smells very youthful in terms of fruit. Just starting to show some dried fruits, especially figs. Not raisined at all. Chewy but becoming silky smooth, on the cusp of readiness. Lots of power and richness and becoming more elegant. Long. Seems like a wine in transition between youth and maturity.
