Viticultura:
A época de crescimento de 1972 na região do Douro caracterizou-se por um verão quente e seco, seguido de um outono ameno. Embora a falta de precipitação significativa no verão tenha suscitado preocupações quanto ao stress hídrico das vinhas, as condições gerais de seca ajudaram a manter as vinhas saudáveis e livres de doenças. As temperaturas moderadas do outono permitiram um amadurecimento gradual e favorável das uvas, resultando numa colheita que produziu vinhos com uma profundidade e concentração notáveis.
Fermentação:
As uvas foram fermentadas em lagares tradicionais de granito, um processo que favorece a fermentação natural das leveduras. Este método ajuda a preservar as caraterísticas autênticas das uvas e do terroir, conferindo sabores e aromas únicos ao vinho. Estágio: Após a fermentação, o vinho estagiou durante 52 anos em barricas de 550 litros de madeira de castanho. Estas barricas foram 100% utilizadas, permitindo um processo de maturação lento e gradual que realça a complexidade do vinho sem o sobrecarregar com sabores de carvalho novo. O envelhecimento prolongado em madeira de castanheiro contribuiu para o desenvolvimento de caraterísticas profundas e matizadas no vinho, conferindo-lhe um perfil distinto e robusto.
