Reviewed by Mark Squires

The 2019 Q Grande Reserva is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz aged for 12 months in one-third new French oak. It comes in at 14.9% alcohol. A deep and ripe Grande Reserva, the Q this year is a Big Boy. but it holds its balance nicely. The tannins are not hard, but they are very much present, giving this a firm finish and demonstrating that a couple of years of cellar time would be very useful. Although this did close a bit after aeration, the big fruit on opening was pretty delicious and coats the palate. This looks like it will have a long life ahead and improve steadily over the next few years. Give it some time to show its best. Its ceiling may be higher than it now seems. This is sourced from Quinta da Alegria (67%) and Quinta do Mós (33%). Drink Date 2025 – 2040.
