Wine Advocate

The 2022 Oscar’s Rosé is all Touriga Nacional, very dry and coming in at 13.3% alcohol. The winery said, “We bring a new style to Oscar’s line. We always say less is more, so we did less skin contact to express the purity and freshness of high-altitude Touriga Nacional vineyards.” This has dried blue fruits and an easy, understated feel to it. It doesn’t have a lot of energy or vibrancy, though. That zing and zest that some have won’t be found here. It is a pink for sipping on the porch without too much obsession. It tastes great, in a dry fashion. I wouldn’t hold it too long. It will be perfect this summer.

Winemaking Details

Viticulture:
The 2022 growing season was marked by a hot and dry winter, as well as an unusually dry and hot spring and summer. However, the vine managed to mature and recover thanks to rain and lower temperatures in early September. The harvest began on August 24th, with the Touriga Nacional grape variety being picked on September 19th for the Rosé.

Fermentation:
The grapes were carefully selected and pressed whole-clustered before being fermented using selected yeast. This process helped to preserve the natural flavors and aromas of the grapes.

Aging:
After fermentation, the wine was aged for 3 months with regular battonage. This process involved stirring the lees to enhance the wine's texture and impart a creamy mouthfeel.
