Winemaking Details

Viticulture:
In 2024, the Douro Valley experienced a balanced viticultural season marked by a cool, wet winter that replenished water reserves, followed by a mild spring that encouraged even budburst. Late Spring and Summer brought steady warmth and low disease pressure, allowing for gradual ripening. A heat spike between the end of July and early August was mitigated by timely canopy management - canopy management is getting more and more important as heat waves are more frequent. Our vineyards presented healthy, concentrated fruit, with exceptional quality. In mid September we start picking the Touriga Nacional grapes that make this blend. Overall, 2024 promises elegant, structured wines with vibrant acidity and refined tannins.

Fermentation:
In 2024, Douro rosé production focused on elegance and purity. Our Touriga Nacional grapes were harvested in the first half of September to preserve acidity, then cooled to ~10°C. After a short maceration, the must was gently pressed and clarified via cold settling. Fermentation occurred at 15°C in a stainless steel tank, using selected yeast strains to enhance red fruit aromatics. Total fermentation lasted 16 days. We employed partial lees aging without bâtonnage for mid-palate weight. The resulting rosés are crisp, delicately textured, with fresh berry notes and a dry, mineral finish.

Aging:
Aged in stainless steel tanks for 4 months with frequent bâtonnage.

Winemaker:
Mariana Rosária
