Winemaking Details
Viticulture:
The 2024 growing season in the Douro Valley was marked by a cool, wet winter that replenished water reserves, followed by a mild spring promoting even budburst. Late spring and summer brought steady warmth and low disease pressure, allowing for gradual ripening. A heatwave in late July and early August was mitigated through timely and increasingly essential canopy management. The vineyards delivered healthy, concentrated fruit, and by early September, we began harvesting the white varieties for this blend. The conditions of 2024 suggest wines with elegance, structure, and vibrant acidity.
Fermentation:
Viosinho, Arinto, Gouveio, and Fernão Pires grapes were hand-picked at optimal phenolic ripeness and chilled to 8–10°C before gentle pneumatic pressing. The must underwent static cold settling for 48–72 hours at approximately 10°C, followed by inoculation and fermentation at 15°C in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Lees contact with regular bâtonnage was used to build texture. Fermentation lasted between 15 to 20 days, producing wines marked by freshness, precision, and tension.
Aging:
Aged in stainless steel tanks with frequent bâtonnage for 4 months before bottling, to preserve vibrancy and enhance mouthfeel.
